It's a Dog's Life

Well, our first show was a good experience. We came home with 4 ribbons, but zero points. The breed only had two dogs show, both of which were bitches and both were bred by my breeder with her showing the other bitch. With only two dogs in the ring there is only 1 point to award, and well, the other bitch looked better. Calla is still a little under weight and her coat was definitely not in its best condition.

But, we had a GREAT time! Yesterday was a show and go, but today after the show we hung around and did some shopping and browsing. I saw that the Whippets had a strong showing... that was the type of dog that I wanted to get and still would like to get as a playmate for Calla. There also were a couple of Italian Greyhounds present... another favorite dog of mine. But, in the end, there just isn't any better dog than a Fox Terrier. Calla is pretty young still, 16 months, and has a great many years of showing left. Dot, the bitch that she was up against, is three years old and this was her first show, too!

Good night.
